Chapter 1702: The Reunion of the Three Souls! | Renegade Immortal

Renegade Immortal - Updated on March 6, 2025

From the Fifth Soul emerged a verdant essence, the color of burgeoning life. Green, being the root of all trees, embodies growth and expansion. This soul, a fragment of the Celestial Seven’s very being, promises bountiful offspring to mortals and, should it grace a cultivator, a unique talent for self-multiplication, like branches stretching towards the sun. This emerald wisp, subtle and easily lost amidst the cosmic tapestry of reincarnation, nonetheless caught Wang Lin’s eye. In its fleeting existence, a familiar form flickered within. “San Ling Shang Ren… it is he…” Wang Lin murmured, the weight of millennia settling upon his heart.

The Sixth Soul radiated a sapphire light, a hue that spoke of both gentle waters and frigid ice. This azure essence, born from the Celestial Seven’s profound love, contained the entwined affections for his sole true companion, Fan Shan Meng. It was a love laced with bitterness, a paradox that gave this soul its unique duality. This sixth soul was not a man, but a woman, and her presence struck a chord of recognition within Wang Lin. He lifted his gaze, disbelief etching itself upon his face, for he could scarcely believe that even she was a child of the Celestial Seven’s scattered spirit. As the Sixth Soul faded, it revealed a fleeting silhouette, etched with both coldness and tenderness, a complex interplay where frost ultimately veiled warmth, burying it deep. “Mu Bing Mei…” Wang Lin whispered, his face paling as he recognized the shape. This was the very woman defined by that glacial yet gentle nature, a fate repeated across her many lifetimes, as complex and fraught as her own entanglement with Wang Lin.

Though separated, the Seven Souls retained a faint, nearly imperceptible connection to one another. Should the Three Souls remain unfused, these Seven would endure in endless, mortal-like cycles of reincarnation.

The Seventh Soul pulsed with a violet light, the hue of torment and unrestrained emotion. This amethyst fragment bore the weight of the Celestial Seven’s final, broken moments: his rage, his madness, and his profound regret. He cursed the heavens and earth, and above all, the woman he loved. His life may have been grand, but he was a tragic figure, his final fury unable to be extinguished, coalescing into this Seventh Soul. It was the first to dissipate, its form obscured by the Celestial Seven’s blinding rage. Wang Lin could not discern who this soul would become in its next life, yet he felt a faint premonition that he had encountered them before.

The process of discerning the origins of the Seven Souls appeared slow, but it occurred in the blink of an eye. As each soul faded, Wang Lin’s awe rivaled even the discovery of the True Third Soul. With the Seven departed, the Three Souls, unleashed by the Celestial Seven’s final shattering, shot forth in three separate directions. The first emanated a rainbow glow and sped towards the outer realms where, after eons, it would become the Celestial Seven’s Daoist incarnation, bearing the burden of the Celestial Seven’s supernatural abilities. The second soul careened in the opposite direction, plunging into the cycle of reincarnation where, after countless lifetimes, it would become a common beast in the Starfield of Luo Tian. Its memories slowly began to stir, and one day, as it fully awakened, a gravely wounded old man plummeted from the sky onto its very planet. The old man, Zhan Laogui, had failed his Xuan Tribulation, his body rotting, his nascent soul collapsing, and on the brink of death he saw a beast with eyes of peculiar light pounce upon him. This was Zhan Laogui’s immortal destiny! All of this, Wang Lin witnessed!

He followed the Third Soul, which streaked further than the rest. Without hesitation, he pursued with all his might. This was his second chase, but this time there was no Celestial Seven’s Daoist avatar to interfere. He vowed to find the Third Soul, which felt as though it was just within his grasp!

The Third Soul passed through Zhao He and arrived at Kun Xu Starfield, and began to slow, as if searching for a place to take root. Wang Lin remained close behind, straining to keep up, his gaze locked on the formless essence. Unlike the Souls, it did not manifest any image within until it had entered the cycle of reincarnation. The Third Soul paused briefly outside a desolate cultivation star, but for some unknown reason, it did not settle there, instead flickering away to Yun Hai!

Wang Lin’s eyes gleamed; calculating the passage of time, he surmised that when he encountered the Celestial Seven’s Daoist avatar he disrupted the Third Soul when it was wandering in Kun Xu, and awakened it. The more he considered, the more a chill filled his heart. “What is the Third Soul searching for in Kun Xu? Or does it sense that, eons later, the Celestial Seven’s Daoist avatar would try to find it in this way, and is delaying for time?” Wang Lin shook his head, dismissing the thought as far-fetched.

The Third Soul traveled to the future Yun Hai, fleetingly appearing on a desolate star. Wang Lin followed, his eyes fixed on that planet. Over time, the planet shattered, scattering fragments and releasing mists that filled the surrounding space. On one of the fragments, a dying serpent emitted a beam of white light that shot into the void. Wang Lin, alert, sped after it, for he had found the Third Soul’s trail of reincarnation. He now sought the Third Soul’s present-day incarnation, whether mortal, cultivator, flower, tree, or beast!

In his pursuit through the Four Great Starfields, Wang Lin watched the Third Soul’s many lives. In one it was reborn as a scholarly mortal. The scholar, seemingly simple, only understood reading. He gained a title and lived to old age, at which moment the white light left his aged forehead to begin another reincarnation. There were male and female incarnations… In one, the Third Soul was a towering tree, growing from sapling to withered husk over a thousand years. In another, it was a cultivator, his progress ending with the Golden Core stage and a long life.

Through endless lifetimes, the Third Soul, in one life, chose to reincarnate in Kun Xu Starfield, on a planet that Wang Lin knew very well. To his shock, it was Vermillion Bird!

At the sight of it, Wang Lin’s heart trembled. He did not know if this was the end of the search, but he had a premonition as soon as he saw Vermillion Bird. The Third Soul, on Vermillion Bird, became a mortal. This mortal did not cultivate Dao, but lived a brilliant life, becoming a Confucian scholar in Zhao! His name was Su Dao!

Wang Lin did not see himself in this past life, but his awe was immeasurable! He did not know why he encountered Su Dao in his dream Dao, or why, in the dream Dao, Su Dao accepted him as a disciple. It was as if there was an ancient karmic bond between them! Wang Lin could only see the result, not the cause. As he watched Su Dao, who liked willow catkins, die smiling, the white light of the Third Soul floated upward to change direction once more, this time toward the Starfield of Luo Tian! Wang Lin’s mind shook, as the last cycle of reincarnation grew closer!

He followed the Third Soul as it entered a deep planet of Luo Tian and reincarnated as a fish in a river. This planet was named Green Spirit!

From a tiny fry the fish grew, playing and swimming as its life passed away. However, Wang Lin was very curious; this death was very different than the past ones. The Third Soul did not leave the planet and was reincarnated into another fish in the same river. Cycle after cycle, it chose to remain within that very river, waiting for something. This strange phenomenon made Wang Lin vaguely suspect what was happening on this familiar planet.

After hundreds of lives Wang Lin watched the Third Soul cycle through the same river. In the last life, he saw an old fisherman fishing on the river. The fish that the Third Soul reincarnated into bit the hook and was pulled up by the fisherman’s laughter. It seemed that after hundreds of lives, it was waiting for the fisherman and the bait! “My wife is about to give birth; I’ll go home after catching this one today!” The truth was near.
