Chapter 1997: A Beggar's Bowl | Red Heart Survey [Translation]
Red Heart Survey [Translation] - Updated on May 2, 2025
This bowl is extraordinary.
Although its appearance is ordinary, at first glance it’s just a plain, smooth copper bowl like the ones monks use for alms.
But if you examine its patterns carefully, you can see tiny Sanskrit characters, one by one. Like dragons soaring through the nine heavens, or moving clouds spreading rain, they hold endless profound mysteries.
Sanskrit, like the Qi script or the Chu script, like the most widely circulated scripts in the world, all came after Cangjie created characters, allowing those who have not reached cultivation to also expound the Dao.
Though personally made by the World Honored One, it doesn’t possess supernatural powers; it exists without any power itself.
But wandering over the characters on this bowl, each one is lively, seeming to be born with a spirit.
Even those who don’t recognize Sanskrit at all can penetrate its true meaning—
The patterns of tiny Sanskrit characters on this copper bowl are actually an engraved scripture. Its name is: The Buddha Speaks of All Empty All Silent Dharma Extinction Sutra.
Suddenly seeing this text, and each word, each word is actually like striking the bowl, with a Zen sound entering the ear.
The bowl sound resonates for ten thousand years, even to the endless end of dharma!
“Hear thus, the World Honored One sheds tears.
See thus, the World Honored One seals words.
Know thus, the World Honored One silently transforms.
Obtain thus, I am this witness.
In this dharma-ending kalpa time, snakes and rats enjoy, wild grass resides in temples. Ghosts and demons wear kasaya, holy Buddhas cry madly.
After Bodhi dies, wisdom and knowledge have already dimmed, spiritual dharma is all lost. Sentient beings together fall, the Zen sound is forever silent.
Only then do I know today’s karma, knitting into tomorrow’s fruit.
Endless eons are indestructible, are empty words, as I hear thus, also hear me!”
How grand the Sanskrit sound, yet so desolate, lonely, empty!
Jiang Wang just had a fleeting glance and already “heard” one chapter. Though he didn’t understand its true meaning, it was also like hearing a great bell, seeming to feel yet not feel. He understood that this scripture had extremely important significance, for the human-dragon conflict, for Buddhism, for history, all of which held quite key value.
Especially, the chaotic path flower rotating within his body seemed to also imply that this scripture had some vague connection with him!
And this bowl circles, characters fly, hiding an unknown number of chapters of scripture. The full text might display more true meanings, and be more convenient to understand.
He realized this was the Sky Buddha treasure the old dragon Ao Kui had hidden in the depths of the universe, likely named the Begging Life Thus Bowl.
Ao Kui relied on his true name linked to the gate of wonders in the universe, escaping from the prison at the base of the Jade Balance Star Tower. By also borrowing the ability of the Begging Life Thus Bowl, he sealed the part of the gate of wonders in the universe located in this world, isolating his own call for help to Senior Guan Yan. One cannot say his scheming wasn’t deep.
In a situation where his freedom was restricted and he was almost completely unable to use his power, he was still able to complete such an escape right under his nose, borrowing his own power.
Even as the one successfully targeted, Jiang Wang still sincerely praised the old cunning and treacherous one. These vile-hearted and wicked-lunged individuals had truly given him experience once again.
But being targeted wasn’t fearful, the important thing was how to respond. Especially not to panic and lose composure, causing himself to make mistakes again and again.
Without guaranteeing omniscience, no one could guarantee that they would never step into traps. Chong Xuan Sheng and he jointly fought Chong Xuan Zun, and they also lost the vanguard Fa Xia, losing the first move—Jiang Wang thus comforted himself, calmly reviewing the current situation.
He had a mind to look at that Begging Life Thus Bowl one more time, even if it was just to remember a few more chapters of scripture, yet he was already lost his five senses in the melodious bowl sound—this scripture, this bowl, were originally not to be shown lightly to vulgar eyes. That one look, that one listen just now, was already the result of his outstanding five senses, having cultivated the eye immortal and the ear immortal.
That melodious bowl sound filled his ears, the endless starlight wrapped his body and also filled his vision.
Jiang Wang couldn’t move, so he just extended his voice as much as possible, going with the flow. And in his heart, he sorted out the key points—
A thousand years ago, Ao Kui, who contended with Emperor Lord Tai Yong and lost, successfully seduced the Imperial Aunt Old Nun of Sky Buddha Temple and stole this bowl. After his crime was exposed, he was abandoned by the sea clan, suffered pursuit, and carried the treasure to flee into the universe.
This process was absolutely not easy; he also had several close calls with death.
During his flight, he hid the Begging Life Thus Bowl in a certain place in the vast universe, added a seal, and concealed its aura. And with his own true name, he opened the gate of wonders in the universe as an anchor, a path for returning after several years.
His true body was heavily injured and he fled all the way to the Senhai Source Realm, where he fell into a long sleep.
Hidden in an ancient tree, his aura leaked out during his sleep, causing the ancient tree to produce various divine anomalies, thereby triggering the faith and worship of many natives of the Senhai Source Realm.
This power of faith accelerated his awakening. After awakening, he accidentally discovered the fact that Jade Balance was ownerless.
In order to occupy this eternal star, he changed his original revival plan and began a thousand-year layout, personally weaving the tragic end of the Senhai Holy Clan. If he waited for him to succeed in proving Dao Star Lord, then retrieve the Begging Life Thus Bowl, he believed that even in the vast universe, he could enjoy true freedom. Even if Tai Yong came again, he wouldn’t fear.
It was a pity that all of this was destroyed by Guan Yan, who was the first in comprehension in the Suspended Temple for five hundred years and vowed not to become a Buddha…
In a state where all five senses were confused, his thoughts were instead exceptionally clear.
Through piecing together various details, Ao Kui’s past experiences should have been exactly like this.
After that were the gradual interactions of the past three years.
In these experiences, what information could be confirmed? What places could be utilized?
Just as he was thinking, his five senses had already been restored.
Jiang Wang manifested the Sword Immortal state for the first time, held his sword in hand, opened the Voice-Hearing Immortal Domain, and quickly observed this world.
Ao Kui was not in front.
No, judging from the traces captured in the scene, Ao Kui and he arrived in this world almost successively, but he was the first to escape!
This explained two points.
First, Ao Kui’s state was very poor and he didn’t have the confidence to fight him at this moment.
Second, Ao Kui had a certain understanding of this world, and had long known he would arrive in this realm, and should have long had a complete set of plans; his next steps would be very clear.
From these two points, one conclusion could be deduced—you must quickly find Ao Kui and take advantage of his illness to kill him.
With the old dragon’s cunning and his power at his peak, the longer the time dragged on, the more unfavorable it would be to himself.
But time wasn’t entirely Ao Kui’s friend either, because he still had Senior Guan Yan as a helper.
Although the previous call for help was cut off, the letter he had written to Senior Guan Yan earlier was still there. Only when Senior Guan Yan read the letter and wanted to reply would he discover that he was missing in Star Moon Plain.
Although he was not cunning enough, Senior Guan Yan was a wise one who completely suppressed Ao Kui. He would definitely find clues and find his way to this world. Then it would be the old dragon Ao Kui’s dangerous period again.
Of course, waiting was not Jiang Wang’s character; he would certainly actively grasp his fate—if he really couldn’t grasp it, then he would cheer for Senior Guan Yan again, pray for a blessing, and wish that the elder would discover him early.
Then at this time, Jiang Wang looked up and saw the White Jade Xia descending from the sky…
Forget it! He gripped Long Xiang Si tightly, still deciding to rely on himself. Fate was not something to be relied upon.
Immediately descending into this world was not just White Jade Xia.
Also Lin Xian, Lian Yu Chan, Jing Li, Xi Ming.
All members of the First Tower of the World’s early repair meeting had arrived!
They also similarly experienced a state of confused five senses, then successively awakened.
And speaking of Xi Ming, the mysterious strong one from Giant City, he had suddenly detected an anomaly last night in the White Jade Capital tavern and displayed a combat state with top-notch reaction, killing his way to Jiang Wang’s room…
Then he was wrapped by the sea of starlight and fell into this inexplicable world.
The state of confused five senses did not affect his combat preparations; over a thousand kinds of combat plans from the outer heaven world were recalled by him one by one and integrated into his plans.
In the first moment of his senses clearing, he captured Jiang Wang—Jiang Wang in the Sword Immortal state was simply magnificent to the extreme, hard not to capture.
Xi Ming, who had already rehearsed in his heart, adjusted his hand crossbow for the first time and shot a signal arrow straight into the sky. Covered in armor, he simultaneously unfolded the steel wings behind him, piece by piece of blade feathers revealing a cold light!
Green flame flowed through his body as he rushed straight towards Jiang Wang, preparing to strike first.
But he abruptly stopped.
Beside Jiang Wang, who was cloaked in fire… Jing Li’s body was like glass, White Jade Xia’s sword qi was like frost, Lin Xian held a woodcutting knife, and Lian Yu Chan’s double swords in hand were ringing. They all stood surrounding him, looking in this direction.
They also didn’t know what had happened, but following the boss was guaranteed to be right.
“Jiang Wang, you may want to think clearly about the consequences!” Xi Ming suddenly felt that it wasn’t impossible to chat first. His face was expressionless and his tone was serious: “Don’t think that by bringing me to this ghost place, my Mo Gate won’t discover it!”
Just at this time, the arrow that had already been shot out, which should have roamed the universe, was actually obstructed by the bronze-colored sky of this realm. Its consecutive attempts to rush through all failed in explosions, scattering into several wisps of remnant flames.
This was a signal arrow specially made by Giant City, capable of patrolling stars and piercing the moon, erecting a strong signal like a Starlight Holy Tower in the vast universe, with a value connecting cities!
Xi Ming’s heart involuntarily sank further. Good Jiang Wang, he was indeed prepared early!
Jiang Wang leisurely looked at the sky, seemingly appreciating fireworks, then only looked towards Xi Ming: “Your Mo Gate is so capable of discovering, how didn’t you discover that Mo Jing Yu was killed by Zhuang Gao Xian?”
Xi Ming’s expression did not change: “All things must speak of evidence.”
Jiang Wang slowly drew Long Xiang Si: “So as long as I don’t leave evidence today, it’s fine, right?”
“Jiang Wang, I advise you not to mislead yourself!” Xi Ming said sternly: “I went missing in the White Jade Capital tavern in Star Moon Plain, the whole world knows!”
Jiang Wang quietly looked at him for a while, suddenly smiled, restrained the frost wind and red fire, and returned his sword to its sheath.
He turned around and walked into the distance: “Whether you believe it or not, I only say it once, you were not brought here by me. We are all in some terrifying existence’s scheme. If you want to survive, then follow me and contribute your share of power.”
Just in the process of speaking, he had already completed the information capture of this world and discovered a very interesting thing—
This was actually the floating land world he had once come to!
That was already something that had happened in the Teng Long realm.
At that time, he participated in the Seven Star Tower secret realm, first went to the Senhai Source Realm, then to the Hidden Star World, and finally came to the floating land world of Tian Shu Star Zhao. It could be said that he was the busiest participant in the secret realm at that time.
It was also precisely because of that desperation that he only obtained the most harvests.
He already had considerable familiarity with the floating land world.
In terms of the time he stayed in this world, he definitely far exceeded Ao Kui, who fled the universe hastily and hid his treasure that year.
But the gap in vision between a Teng Long realm cultivator and a True King realm dragon clan could not be reasoned.
He would absolutely not understand this world more than Ao Kui.
This was not his advantage, but it was better than going to a completely strange world.
The sky of the floating land world could not see the dense star river or the rotation of the sun and moon. There was only one eternally hanging Tian Shu Star, which brought daylight when it appeared and darkness when it was hidden.
But at this time, the sky had turned bronze.
In this group, only Jiang Wang saw and understood that it was the Begging Life Thus Bowl covering the entire floating land world!
Ao Kui had activated this bowl, isolating this world from the inside and outside.
Xi Ming’s signal arrow was precisely thus obstructed by the sky.
Although they still didn’t know what the situation was, Jing Li, White Jade Xia, Lin Xian, and Lian Yu Chan all followed Jiang Wang.
After a slight consideration, Xi Ming also followed behind the crowd.
Facing Jing Li’s clear eyes, he explained: “After all, Jiang Wang is relatively trustworthy, I’ve never seen him break faith with people. So he said this, and I am willing to believe it this way.”
Jing Li hummed. Then she turned back again, quickly walked a few steps, to Jiang Wang’s side: “Junior brother, what place is this?”
Jiang Wang regarded it as giving this group a lesson: “An outer heaven world, named ‘Floating Land’.”
As the senior brother who slept in the same room as Jiang Wang, he knew best that all these changes were closely related to Jiang Wang. Of course, he wouldn’t say it was his junior brother’s responsibility, only asking: “Why are we here? What about those starlight?”
Jiang Wang thought for a bit, feeling it was very difficult to explain in a few words, so he said lazily: “Saying the reason would be a long story, you can understand it this way—a true dragon of the sea clan laid out a scheme and brought us here.”
He pointed his finger towards the bronze-colored sky: “The reason why information cannot be transmitted is also his doing. The sky here was not like this before.”
“A true dragon of the sea clan?” Xi Ming, who was walking at the back of the team, showed surprise: “What realm is the true dragon?”
Jiang Wang looked at him: “The same as you think, True King level.”
Xi Ming felt increasingly absurd: “I just can’t figure out how this true dragon sneaked into the present world and how it laid out a scheme against us? Star Moon Plain is an important place between Qi and Jing, how could it allow a true dragon of the sea clan to come and go freely?”
Jiang Wang said: “To explain all this is too complex. If you can’t figure it out for now, don’t think about it. Let’s first think about how to deal with him, okay?”
“Good!” Jing Li struck her palm with her fist, a crisp shout, full of energy.
Working with her good junior brother to capture a dragon, what a good story!
In this group, Lin Xian was a person of few words, Lian Yu Chan was relatively cautious in a strange environment and also knew that her cultivation and vision were not as good so she chose to observe rather than express herself. So they were all silent.
White Jade Xia, however, wanted to speak.
Jiang Wang first said to him: “Jade Xia, don’t speak for now, you should feel this world well. This is very important.”
Inexplicable! White Jade Xia rolled his eyes and was too lazy to make a sound.
Following and walking was fine; anyway, Boss Jiang wouldn’t harm him.
Xi Ming, who was observing with cold eyes, only felt that the atmosphere in the White Jade Capital tavern was not very good; these people were overly flattering! How could no one feel that Jiang Wang’s words were very absurd?
He said directly: “Forgive me for speaking bluntly, we these people added together are probably not enough to deal with a true dragon of the sea clan… Old Brother Jiang, do you really know what level of combat power a True King is?”
“I’ve had the fortune to kill them before.” Jiang Wang’s steps were leisurely, and he lightly brushed off the corner of his clothes: “Killed several times.”
The Buddha Speaks of All Empty All Silent Dharma Extinction Sutra was written by me to fit the story background and characters. There’s no need to search for it; it’s not an original text.
