Chapter 1140: Triumphant! | Renegade Immortal

Renegade Immortal - Updated on February 26, 2025

A miasma of cosmic fog clung to the void as six iridescent rainbows streaked through the star-strewn expanse. Elder Cangsong, seemingly guided by an innate sense, never consulted the jade scroll for bearings, his pace relentlessly quickening.

With the cultivation of a shattered Nirvana middle stage cultivator, his full-throttle flight resembled a tempest of thunder and lightning. Those following in his wake exerted their own energies to match his astonishing speed.

Wang Lin, burdened by his comparatively nascent power, began to fall behind. Though not truly a shattered Nirvana cultivator, he calmly produced a speed talisman, summoning a protective tempest around himself to surge forward.

Days blurred into a relentless pursuit. The cosmic fog thickened, signaling their arrival at the deepest reaches of the Fifth Rank Starfield. In the distance, a shadowy silhouette emerged—a barbaric continent.

“This is it,” Cangsong declared, his figure hurtling toward the primeval land. The continent was of modest size, yet teemed with savage beasts whose roars echoed through the alien landscape.

“Few know of this forsaken land,” Cangsong proclaimed, a smile gracing his lips. “And fewer still can unravel the secret I have hidden here.” He gazed upon the continent, a wistful look in his eyes.

“Fellow Daoist Pang, I implore you, cleanse this continent of its current inhabitants,” Cangsong intoned, turning to the pockmarked elder.

Pang nodded curtly and vanished, his divine sense unfurling to scour the land. Any cultivator, regardless of sect or cultivation level, found hunting upon this continent was summarily dispatched.

Wang Lin surveyed the desolate expanse beneath his feet, a sense of unease prickling at the back of his mind. He knelt, gathering a handful of the earth, examining it closely. The woman clad in cerulean robes mirrored his actions, her expression growing grave as she scanned the surroundings.

Yun Hunzi, observing Wang Lin, chuckled inwardly. The secrets of this continent were not so easily gleaned, requiring years of patient observation.

Even the youthful acolyte frowned, contemplating the landscape, while Chen Tianjun, unmoved by the scene, sat cross-legged, lost in meditative breathing. Soon, Pang returned, offering Cangsong a silent nod of confirmation.

Cangsong, betraying a flicker of emotion, took a deep breath. His hands wove through a series of intricate seals, summoning a tempest of celestial energies to swirl around him. His white hair danced in the invisible wind as he roared, slamming his hands upon the earth!

The ground trembled, echoing with a cacophony of distant rumblings. Cracks spiderwebbed across the surface, cleaving the land like serpents.

The tremor intensified as four towering mountain peaks, located at the cardinal points of the continent, erupted in a blinding light. From above, the radiance of these mountains could be seen knitting together, forming a colossal Four Peaks Array!

Within the array, the land buckled and shattered, sending fragments of rock spiraling skyward. The entirety of the continent’s surface, within the confines of the Four Peaks Array, began to crumble and ascend, revealing a perfectly smooth, mirror-like expanse beneath.

And upon this surface, an enormous runic imprint had been etched!

The rune, imbued with potent sorceries, dominated the majority of the continent. The scattered debris had merely served to conceal it.

As the fragments drifted into the void, a jolt ran through Wang Lin’s mind. He focused on the stones’ ascending trajectory, and a truth slammed into him – the source of the continent’s unsettling aura!

This forsaken continent was utterly still! The continents of the Cloud Sea Starfield were not static; they drifted slowly through the cosmos. Imperceptible to mortals, cultivators of sufficient power could discern their imperceptible drift.

Wang Lin, an outsider to this region, hailed from a starfield of planets, not floating continents. He perceived the stillness with clarity, a detail easily overlooked by native inhabitants. “A still continent…” he murmured, his eyes gleaming.

The ground between the Four Peaks was now clear of debris. Cangsong seated himself and summoned a storage rift, from which countless celestial jades cascaded, disintegrating upon contact with the earth into ethereal dust.

As the celestial jade crumbled, the land absorbed its rich energies, causing the runic imprint to grow brighter, radiating a gentle light.

After a brief incense stick’s worth of time, hundreds of thousands of celestial jades had been sacrificed. The rune blazed until it bathed the continent in a light brighter than day! “Celestial Array, awaken!” Cangsong roared, his voice thundering across the heavens. In an instant, the rune pulsed violently, and the continent reverberated with deafening booms.

Wang Lin sensed the energy permeating the land, and the entire continent lurched into motion, not trembling, but moving!

It was shifting northward! The motion was undeniable, hinting at the speed it was now traveling! Not just Wang Lin, but the acolyte, Chen Tianjun, and the woman in cerulean robes were equally astounded, their divine senses keenly observing.

The continent’s movement accelerated with each pulse of the rune. Soon, with a deafening rumble, it had shifted completely, revealing the space it had once occupied.

There, at the heart of the now-vacant space, a shimmering, seven-colored rift bloomed, no larger than half a丈. Its otherworldly light rendered it impossibly conspicuous amidst the starlit void! “This is!” the acolyte gasped, transfixed. His already grotesque features contorted in a frightful grimace.

“What a grand scheme!” Chen Tianjun observed, casting a glance at Cangsong before fixing his gaze on the iridescent tear in reality.

“This continent was not originally here. I stumbled upon this place years ago, when the rift had just appeared. To conceal it, I moved this land from another location, burying the tear to prevent discovery!” Cangsong declared, his voice ringing with pride.

“Where does this seven-colored rift lead?” the woman in cerulean asked, her voice measured.

“You shall see soon enough!” Cangsong chuckled. Under his guidance, the continent beneath their feet accelerated, distancing itself from the rift.

“The rift is unstable and cannot be entered directly. Otherwise, the entry of even two of us would cause it to collapse. It would not disappear, but it would shrink, making return difficult. Thus, we will use the continent as a battering ram, forcing the rift open. The continent’s imprint will tether it, preventing collapse, and minimizing the repercussions for our return.”

As Cangsong spoke, the shimmering tear receded into the distance. The continent surged faster, yet abruptly halted mere moments later.

Cangsong pressed his hands upon the earth, and the continent lurched forward at a terrifying pace, hurtling toward the seven-colored rift!

The velocity grew ever more extreme, until the land shuddered violently and debris cascaded from its edges.

From above, the continent’s reckless assault appeared to rival that of a shattered Nirvana cultivator, perhaps even surpassing it!

The void resounded with thunder. Every soul standing on the continent grew increasingly tense, their eyes fixed on the approaching rift, their minds racing!

In a blink, the continent collided with the seven-colored rift, unleashing a shockwave that illuminated the surrounding cosmos. As the land crashed through, the rift’s inner light erupted in a blinding flash. The tear expanded, as if violently torn open. “Go!” Cangsong roared, and he charged headlong into the breach, followed by the rest of the party.

Only Yun Hunzi and Wang Lin remained. Yun Hunzi watched Wang Lin intently from behind, but Wang Lin, despite the danger, maintained his pace, heading for the rift. Just as he was about to step through, Wang Lin spun around.

Yun Hunzi’s eyes widened. As Wang Lin turned, his right hand flashed, revealing a rusty iron sword, an ordinary looking weapon possessing a thunderous potential.
