Chapter 1597: The Eleventh Volume: Ancient Mysteries - Roar of the Tiger Echoing Through Mountains and Rivers. | Renegade Immortal
Renegade Immortal - Updated on March 4, 2025
A chilling glint sparked in the ancient white tiger’s eyes. The very posture of Wang Lin grated upon his nerves. He was in the crucial years of mending grievous wounds, a process so delicate that it demanded utter focus. The arcane techniques he employed for this healing limited his current power, allowing him to wield only the strength of an early Sky Profound adept.
He had believed such might sufficient to extinguish this upstart.
Yet, the palm strike he had received earlier resonated with an unsettling strangeness, shaking the white tiger elder to his core. He found himself unable to fully grasp the true extent of Wang Lin’s power.
Adding to his unease, the fact that Wang Lin had shattered the Immortal Sovereign’s seal sparked disbelief and trepidation within the old beast. However, the weight of centuries of cultivation experience prevented him from retreating at mere words. His pride, that of a celestial being, would never allow such a humiliation.
He was an Immortal, and thus in his eyes, Wang Lin, no matter how formidable, was naught but a lower realm ant. The more composed this ant appeared, the more the white tiger felt pressure mounting, igniting a furious rage.
He was infuriated not only at Wang Lin, but also at himself for feeling even a whisper of fear. He could scarcely comprehend the notion of an Immortal, fearing an insect from a lesser plane!
A guttural growl rumbled from the white tiger’s throat, and his eyes blazed with an intense, pure white light. This luminescence carried an aura of domineering power, a force born from the very source of his cultivation and inherent abilities – the might of the celestial star, Bai Hu, the White Tiger.
With that growl, the ancient beast took a thunderous step forward, his form lunging towards Wang Lin. His right hand wove a mystic sign, pointing towards the heavens before swiftly descending. He bellowed, “Challenge you? How dare you imply! Only if you can withstand three of my divine strikes will you be worthy of discourse with one such as I!” His voice boomed like rolling thunder across the primeval Immortal Domain, echoing in every direction, stirring countless muffled replies that made it seem as though a legion of voices roared alongside him.
The sound was earth-shattering, a force of potent impact that rattled the very foundations of the world.
“First Strike: Tiger’s Roar Sunders Mountains and Rivers!” The elder tiger flung his arms forward, and behind him, the colossal phantom of the White Tiger manifested once more, reaching towards the heavens. A majestic and divine being, the specter shuddered, its eyes mirroring the white light, fixing its gaze upon Wang Lin. It opened its maw and unleashed a roar of unimaginable force!
The booming resonance vibrated through the skies, threatening to shatter the very fabric of the Immortal Domain. The heavens rippled like scales, and as the wave spread, it tore the sky into countless jagged fissures.
The earth trembled, especially in Wang Lin’s vicinity and the vast expanse behind him, with a violent shudder. Howling winds whipped the land, and the ground began to crumble. The earth softened, rising and falling like waves, and resonating with a deafening roar, as endless cracks tore across its surface.
From afar, the wounded earth appeared as if scarred, a sight of profound and terrible destruction.
The tiger’s roar, in that instant, eclipsed all other sounds. The echoes swirling and merging created an overwhelming force, capable of shattering a cultivator’s mind and body!
The earth crumbled beneath the cracks, while the sky seemed to collapse from the pressure waves, twisting into phantom fragments. The winds swept across the land, plunging the world into darkness.
All that remained was the escalating, deafening roar of the White Tiger, growing louder and more frantic with each passing moment.
Wang Lin’s ears rang, as he stood his ground between heaven and earth. Above him, the sky was unraveling. Below him, the earth was collapsing. He was engulfed in the White Tiger’s roar, the gale-force winds lashing at his hair and robes, threatening to tear his very flesh apart.
Had he not possessed the physique of an Ancient God, even with his Sky Spirit cultivation, he would have been torn asunder by that single, earth-shattering roar. His spirit, stripped of its physical vessel, would have been gravely wounded.
The roar carried an immense pressure, a force akin to the very weight of the cosmos. Wang Lin perceived that the tiger’s might had transcended its earthly bounds, reaching a level capable of devouring all living things!
This was the heart of the Immortal Domain, the core of the ancient dwelling. Had this roar occurred within the realm, or in the star-studded void, the very cosmos would have convulsed. Countless cultivation planets would have crumbled, and countless cultivators would have perished in its wake!
Yet, Wang Lin stood unyielding amidst the howling winds and echoing roar. His expression remained serene, and he closed his eyes. The moment his eyes shut, the world around him became illusion.
This illusion was one born from his heart, his thoughts, and his intentions. It was not a genuine illusion, but Wang Lin had grasped the very essence of truth and falsehood. He willed it to be false, and thus, his body, spirit, thoughts, and all that he was believed that the outside was but a lie.
The Origin of Truth and Falsehood, the Essence of Illusion, was born from the heart!
The instant his eyes closed, his hair, previously whipped about by the wind, fell still, as if the gale had dispersed. Strands settled upon his shoulders in the midst of this violent maelstrom. His robes, which had been thrashing wildly, fell into an eerie stillness upon his frame.
Before him, there seemed to be no wind at all!
Yet, in reality, the winds howled with a ferocity far greater than before, and the tiger’s roar was amplified tenfold.
The collapse of the earth intensified, and the unraveling of the sky spread further, but Wang Lin’s body remained unmoved. His serene countenance stood out in stark contrast to the chaos around him, a being detached from the very world.
With another snarl, the white tiger elder lunged forward, his body moving like lightning towards Wang Lin.
In an instant, he was upon Wang Lin, raising his right hand. A golden light flashed forth, coalescing in his grasp into a golden, heavens-cleaving blade!
The blade, a full ten feet long, was brandished by the white tiger. As he neared Wang Lin, he roared and swung the weapon down upon Wang Lin’s crown!
With this stroke, the tiger’s roar intensified, the winds shifted, and a sound of infinite destruction rang. The blade fell from the heavens, striking Wang Lin’s closed eyes, cleaving his body without resistance!
A piercing sound echoed as the blade passed through Wang Lin’s form, yet his body bore no mark, as if the blade had struck nothing but a phantom!
“The Origin of Truth and Falsehood! He wields the very Origin of Illusion! Damnation, the Immortal Sovereign sealed the paths of all Origins of Illusion. If not for the Immortal Sovereign’s grave wounds from which he was forced to remove his control, this mortal would never grasp the essence of that power!”
Shock registered in the white tiger elder’s eyes, yet the beast was unwilling to concede. He brandished the heavens-cleaving blade, striking down hundreds, then thousands of times in the space of a breath. As the blade danced, Wang Lin’s form seemed to fade, and though the strikes passed through him, his countenance remained serene.
“Have you finished your dance?” Wang Lin opened his eyes as the white tiger elder completed his final strike.
The old beast recoiled without thought, but in that instant, Wang Lin stepped forward. He appeared before the elder tiger, raising his right hand and gently touching the elder’s chest with the open palm.
The touch seemed feeble, utterly lacking in power, yet the elder’s face twisted in horror as a mortal peril washed over him. This soft palm strike ignited a hair-raising dread!
“This… this is…” The old beast was about to retreat, but it was too late. Wang Lin’s hand landed, his serene eyes flashed with a sudden, chilling glint, and his fingers curled inward, gripping tightly. As he clenched his fist, he yanked outward with explosive force.
The air exploded with a resounding roar, and the old tiger coughed forth blood. His body flew backwards like a broken kite, and as Wang Lin yanked, a strand of white light was extracted from the elder’s very being, condensing into a sphere within Wang Lin’s grasp.
“Karma! This is the Origin of Karma! You wield two Origins of Illusion!”
Wang Lin coldly regarded the retreating white tiger. The remnants of the tiger’s roar still echoed around him, but with a scornful snort, Wang Lin did not pursue. Instead, he crushed the sphere of white light in his hand, and as he did so, the white tiger shuddered once more, spitting blood as it retreated even faster.
“You welcomed me with a tiger’s roar, so I shall return the courtesy!” Wang Lin’s eyes gleamed as he struck his brow, revealing the ancient God’s star points. The star points within his left and right eyes materialized, and behind him, the ancient God’s head emerged with a resounding boom.
Surrounding the ancient God’s head were the spectral forms of the three Ancient tribes, dominating the space behind Wang Lin. In that instant, Wang Lin opened his mouth and emitted a low growl!
Following his growl, the ancient God’s head also opened its maw and unleashed a roar. The Ancient tribes, the Ancient Gods, Ancient Devils, and Ancient Demons, all roared towards the fleeing white tiger.
The combined roars drowned out the tiger’s bellow, creating an indescribable surge of power. The thunderous force blasted forth, crashing directly upon the enemy.
The white tiger elder was pierced by the roar. He stumbled in mid-air, his face paling as his hands wove a mystic sign. The massive white tiger behind him surged forward, merging with the elder. In that moment, the elder disappeared, replaced by a gigantic white tiger retreating under the combined roar of Wang Lin’s Ancient God’s head and Ancient Three Tribes.
