Chapter 1634: Ancient Mysteries: Mosquito Beast Reunion | Renegade Immortal
Renegade Immortal - Updated on March 5, 2025
Lady Li Qianmei departed at last, her spirit bound to her father, the esteemed Dao Lord Lan Meng. With them followed the Five Consorts of the Coalescent Bloom, also claimed by Lan Meng’s charge.
They would return to the Azure Silk Clan, and upon their next arrival, they would bring with them the full might of their kin. Within the borders of this realm, they would select a territory, a new homeland for the Azure Silk people.
Despite his wounds, Dao Lord Lan Meng, with his profound cultivation, faced little peril in this journey. Save for the intervention of a Realm Sovereign, no threat could touch them. Yet, even the Sovereigns would hesitate to press the peak-stage Sky Profound Dao Lord, whose very Dao Heart stood unyielding. For with a mere thought, Lan Meng could ascend to the Profound Tribulation, unleashing a calamitous storm that even Sovereigns would wisely evade.
As father and daughter, their forms vanished into the star-strewn void beyond the realm. With their leaving, the azure luminescence that had enveloped their presence slowly faded, allowing the starry expanse to reclaim its inky blackness.
As she departed, Li Qianmei was filled with joy. Her smile mirrored the radiance of her youth, and her gaze frequently turned towards Wang Lin, conveying a tenderness without end. This man was her chosen one, a decision she had never regretted. Now, nor would she ever retreat. Even if her devotion led to her demise, she would not falter. Such was Li Qianmei, steadfast in her convictions.
Within the Transfer Array, Wang Lin remained, accompanied only by Mu Bingmei, whose eyes mirrored the tumult of events that had just unfolded. Her heart was in disarray.
Between them, words seemed impossible to form. After an age of silence, as Mu Bingmei parted her lips as if to break the stillness, Wang Lin closed his eyes, turning inwards to commune with his inner energies, seeking to comprehend the art of Tear the Heavens.
The words vanished, unspoken. Her nature was far removed from that of Li Qianmei, dissimilar even to Xi Zifeng or Hong Die. She was simply Mu Bingmei. Of the half year allotted, five months had already drifted by, leaving but a single moon. On this day, Mu Bingmei rose, her eyes cleared of all turbulence, reflecting only clarity. She gazed upon the meditating Wang Lin, long and lingeringly.
“…Farewell.” It was the first utterance she had made this past year, and it would be her last. With these words, Mu Bingmei turned and headed towards the Kun Xu of the realm. A Sacred Daughter of Kun Xu, she was bound to return.
It seemed that the past eleven months of companionship had served only to give birth to this single sentiment. Mu Bingmei did not tarry for the year’s completion, departing before its end. Eleven months, one month shy of the whole.
This final month, Mu Bingmei kept within her heart, a treasure for future remembrance. Alone in the star-filled void, her form appeared solitary, desolate, and fragile, stirring a sense of empathy. Stripped of all she had possessed, she envied Li Muwan, and she envied Li Qianmei.
Li Qianmei had a father, Li Muwan had Wang Lin, but she, possessed nothing. Her home was lost, her mentor gone, all those familiar faces who had witnessed her growth were now gone, perished… If she truly possessed anything, it was Wang Ping, a bond she could not escape. She was Wang Ping’s mother.
“Even if I were to die, no one would even know… And Ping’er despises me…” Her countenance clouded with sorrow as she receded into the distance. Wang Lin watched her fade into the star-filled void, his eyes opening to pierce the void. His hatred for Mu Bingmei had ebbed, but no affection lingered in its stead.
“One month remains…” Wang Lin’s eyes narrowed as he faced the starry expanse beyond the realm, and his right hand rose, striking a point between his brows.
As his finger landed, Wang Lin trembled. A rhythmic pulse reverberated within his body, and under the sway of the echoing sound, his physical form began to blur, taking on a phantom-like quality.
It was as if two Wang Lins, overlaid one upon another, existed. Because of the finger strike, this superposition became unsteady. After a few breaths, as their forms warped and twisted, another Wang Lin materialized from his physical shell! The conjoined forms abruptly separated, the pulsing sound ceased, and the blurring dissipated. Within the array, two identical Wang Lins stood!
The one sitting in meditation was Wang Lin’s true form – a fusion of Ancient God, Ancient Demon, and Ancient Devil, imbued with the legacy of the Ancient Dao! The other, standing, was his avatar, a mortal cultivator.
There was a time when Wang Lin often existed in this state, with his true form seated in meditation and his avatar venturing outward, simultaneously cultivating in distinct ways. Now, after a long hiatus, he once more separated his selves! Avatar and true form locked eyes, and after a moment, Wang Lin’s avatar stepped into the starry sky of the realm, vanishing in an instant. His true form closed his eyes, seating itself in the array, committed to enduring the final month.
In the starry void, Wang Lin, adorned in white, walked steadily onward. Deprived of his formidable physical might, he still possessed the cultivation base of a Sky Ethereal mid-stage cultivator, a cultivation of a mortal, one that would not change. A complete mortal, lacking physical defense, he would rely solely on his supernatural powers to vanquish his foes.
“The final month… before the Four War Generals of the Ancient Celestial Realm emerge, there is yet one deed I must accomplish! I shall reforged the Four Celestial Realms, forging them into a single, unified Celestial Realm. From then, those within the realm who cultivate within the Celestial Realm may once again harness the power of incense!”
“And the cultivators born afterwards will walk the same path of immortality, and they will be able to ascend after achieving Divine Transformation, entering this Celestial Realm!” Wang Lin said, his expression grim as his form flickered in the sky.
Only the previous Venerated Sealing was able to achieve this, forging four Great Celestial Realms, enabling the inner cultivators during that time to concentrate the power of incense. However, as the Venerated Sealing was critically injured and dying, as the Four Great Celestial Realms collapsed, the inside of the realm no longer concentrated the power of incense.
But today, this is different. Wang Lin had detonated the Great Sealing Array, allowing the aura of the Primordial Star of the Realm to exist in the Realm’s Starry Sky, causing the limitations on incense within the realm to weaken. This moment was the best opportunity to concentrate Celestial Realms!
It was also something that people have been trying to do for ages. Wang Lin had made it happen.
In the past, there were some who thought about reforging the Immortal Realm, but the conditions did not allow it. They did not have the treasures of the Venerated Sealing, so could not make this possible. At the same time, the Great Sealing Array of that time had not been weakened to the point of collapse.
Wang Lin strode forth, his first destination the Wind Immortal Realm of the Star Sea! This realm, preserved remarkably well, was now overrun by swarms of monstrous mosquitos. In his former days, Wang Lin’s power was insufficient to contend with this place, but now, that was no longer the case.
Furthermore, Wang Lin sensed that the mosquitos, with whom he had become separated long ago, had entered the Wind Immortal Realm during the great war, and survived within. With a step, Wang Lin’s form dissolved into the starry sky, ripples expanding as his silhouette vanished, only to reappear deep within the Star Sea, just outside the rift that served as the entrance to the Wind Immortal Realm. Returning to this familiar place, Wang Lin gazed through the fissure, then with a flash, plunged into the Wind Immortal Realm. The moment he crossed the threshold, a howling wind, sharp as blades, assaulted him. An endless tempest permeated the entire realm.
The mournful wind was the only sound here, its desolate lament echoing throughout the heavens and earth. The sky was obscured by layers of swirling winds, and the land’s dust had long since been swept away by the ages, leaving the barren earth scoured clean. Without hesitation, Wang Lin swept the land with his divine sense and took another step, plunging into the heart of the boundless gale. His white hair danced wildly, but the wind failed to impede his progress. Not only did it fail, but it collapsed before him with thunderous force. Deep within the Wind Immortal Realm, upon a fragmented continent, the wind raged even fiercer. Amidst the howling winds, two swarms of mosquitos clashed in a frenzied battle. Each swarm numbered over ten thousand, and death was swift in the conflict. But the deaths were only on one side, the other swarm revealed their bloodlust and plunged their razor-sharp proboscis into their opponents. The monstrous mosquitos were unscathed! In only a short time, the swarm suffering heavy losses retreated under their foes, and the remaining bloodthirsty mosquitos enveloped them. A gargantuan, golden mosquito, as big as a hill, appeared from the mountains.
As it appeared, a crushing force permeated the area. Its eyes were filled with hatred and it’s proboscis, tens of feet in length, were sharper than anything that Wang Lin had ever seen. The gigantic mosquito emerged as though it was a king. The swarm crashed into the battle and rampaged through the battlefield. Howls of anguish emanated from the dying mosquitoes, and in a few breaths over one thousand were dead as the gigantic mosquito decimated the battlefield. Soon, all the other mosquitos were dead, and there were none left to fight.
The mosquito was covered with blood, and its eyes shone with cold light. It let out a screech, and it pierced the heavens as though a lost child screaming to the skies. The mosquitos next to it screeched as well, and their voices shook the heavens.
At that point, the mosquitos on the ground scattered in fear and despair, including ones that were quite large. They remembered this group of crazed mosquitos who would kill indiscriminately and get larger by doing so. But then, the gigantic mosquito’s body shook violently and it stopped screeching. Confusion and fear filled its eyes.
The confusion turned into excitement! It let out another screech and began flying in a random direction. It was like a child lost from its parents and now they were going to find them!
Wang Lin stopped in midair and turned to the left, a smile spread across his face.
