Chapter 1659: Ancient Mysteries, Chapter 1704 - Miserable as Always! | Renegade Immortal
Renegade Immortal - Updated on March 5, 2025
Despair clouded Greed’s avaricious eyes, a bitter remorse twisting within his soul. He cursed the day he’d crossed paths with Wang Lin beyond the boundaries of the realms, a chance encounter that had resulted in the cleansing of his very essence, leaving him initially relieved.
But then, the cataclysmic war between the inner and outer realms erupted. This conflict ignited a feverish excitement in Greed, for he saw opportunity gleaming amidst the chaos. He envisioned pilfering untold treasures, even bolstering his own power through the strife.
Driven by this avarice, Greed accompanied the armies of the outer realm to the Cloud Sea, where he secretly detached himself from their ranks. Relying on his uncanny ability to sense precious artifacts, he stumbled upon a hidden rift within the Cloud Sea and plunged into its depths.
Here, within the rift, he was overcome with rapturous elation. He could distinctly detect the pervasive aura of powerful treasures, a symphony of magic that sent him into a frenzy of laughter that lasted a quarter of an hour.
Convinced that fortune was still smiling upon him, he believed this rift held a transformative secret, a chance to become invincible and finally overcome Wang Lin. He vowed to reclaim all the treasures he had once possessed, his heart filled with a desire for vengeance.
Fueled by such grand ambitions, Greed moved with renewed purpose through the rift’s strange expanse, seeking out the source of the magical emanations. Eventually, his relentless pursuit led him to an ancient, otherworldly altar.
Overwhelmed with excitement, Greed’s eyes widened as he gazed upon the altar. On its far side, he glimpsed a paradisiacal world, a vision of idyllic beauty that nearly caused him to burst into a joyous cry.
He saw countless rare and potent elven herbs, many of which he had only read about in ancient texts, never daring to dream of seeing them in reality. Each one, if properly refined, could significantly enhance one’s cultivation. The sheer abundance of these herbs left Greed breathless, struggling to comprehend their value.
Beyond the elven herbs, he noticed beasts of extraordinary power, radiating an aura that belied their seemingly gentle nature. These celestial creatures frolicked in the meadows, creating a scene of serene harmony.
Greed’s excitement surged. From his experience, he surmised that these beasts would not attack unless provoked. He even dared to hope that, like the Thunder Dragon he encountered in his youth, they might even become his loyal companions.
The spectacle caused Greed’s body to tremble with anticipation. Yet, he retained a semblance of caution, spending several days observing the rift from a distance, seeking signs of any guardians. Eventually, he witnessed the arrival of two young girls, giggling as they appeared.
The girls posed no immediate threat, or so it seemed to Greed, consumed by his greed. With a triumphant laugh, he rushed through the rift without hesitation, materializing within the enchanted space.
The rift’s barrier held no power against him, a fact that did not surprise Greed, who had encountered similar occurrences in the past. As he entered, he saw the two young girls staring at him with wide, astonished eyes. This fueled his arrogance, and with a sweeping gesture, he attempted to ensnare the two bewildered children, intending to begin his grand looting spree.
However, he would never forget the harrowing events that followed. He would always remember the words spoken by those two young girls after his attempt to bind them.
“Han’er, who is he? How did he suddenly appear here…?”
“I don’t know either… How strange. How did he get into the Purple Yang Sect’s Beast Feeding Realm?”
“Look at him. Has he gone mad? Those herbs are for the little beasts… Why is he putting them in his mouth…?”
The two young girls were taken aback. Then, the one called Wa Wa, heedless of Greed’s binding attempt, walked up behind him and playfully kicked him.
That kick marked the beginning of Greed’s torment.
Recalling those agonizing memories, tears welled up in Greed’s eyes as he gazed at the two girls, whose faces gleamed with mischievous delight. He felt a profound sense of despair.
He could not defeat them. Even their initial kick had nearly crippled him. In his eyes, these two young girls were terrifying beyond measure.
“I’ll talk… I’ll talk, all right? Last time, I was talking about the cruel, hideous, shameless, and arrogant devil Wang Lin… in the belly of Wang Yue…” Greed’s throat felt as if it were filled with flames. He sat there, defeated, and continued the tale.
“Wang Lin is terrible! How could he do something like that?” The girl in purple, Han’er, wrinkled her nose and muttered disapprovingly.
“Han’er, remember what I told you? When I went out with Master to search for herbs, I sensed a strange divine sense, and I communicated with it. It said it was called Wang Lin.”
While Greed was miserably telling his story, far away from the altar, beyond the rift in Peach Blossom Paradise, Wang Lin spat out blood once again, his face deathly pale, as he frantically fled through the starry expanse.
Behind him, the stars seemed to be ablaze. Nine gargantuan firebirds shrieked in pursuit, creating scorching waves that reverberated through the cosmos. Behind the firebirds, the Seven-Colored Daoist approached at a steady pace, his face a mask of rage and killing intent.
“I’ll see where you run! I will refine your ancient flesh into ash! The more you recover, the more you will suffer! I will capture your soul and spirit and turn them into a treasure to vent my hatred!”
Wang Lin felt his entire being consumed by fire. The searing pain overwhelmed his body and mind. His blood felt as if it was truly boiling, surging through his veins and causing him excruciating agony. His body had become a raging inferno, burning everything within.
Despite his mastery of the origin of fire, he could only delay the inevitable. It seemed even that origin could not withstand the Seven-Colored Daoist’s divine power.
His body healed constantly as he fled, yet each recovery was more agonizing than the last. Wang Lin could barely endure it, but he gritted his teeth and persevered, using the blood escape technique multiple times, wasting no time.
He was getting closer and closer to the altar!
Moments later, during another teleportation, Wang Lin finally saw the altar indicated in his jade map. The instant he saw it, his eyes flashed, and he transformed into a burning streak, heading straight for the altar.
At that exact moment, within the rift that connected the altar to the Purple Yang Sect’s Beast Feeding Realm, Greed carefully backed away. In the moment when the two young girls began discussing Wang Lin, Greed, like a madman, quickly retreated and slammed himself into the rift, bursting forth.
As he emerged, tears of joy streamed down Greed’s face. He looked at the star field and felt the joy of surviving a disaster. But this feeling had only just appeared when he saw a burning rainbow streak hurtling toward him.
“Wang Lin? Wang Lin!” Greed was stunned for a moment, hardly daring to believe his eyes. But after a careful look, he shrieked in horror.
“You, you, you… you won’t let me go! I came here, and you appeared again! You…” Greed’s face turned pale immediately. As he retreated subconsciously, Wang Lin, in his rainbow form, crashed onto the altar with a boom, staggering and spitting out a mouthful of blood.
It was only now that Wang Lin noticed Greed, who had suddenly appeared. But he ignored him and turned sharply to look into the distance.
In the distance, the stars were ablaze. Nine enormous firebirds formed a sun and were rushing over with a boom. Behind the sun, the Seven-Colored Daoist approached step by step, radiating killing intent.
Every step he took made the stars tremble. He was unbelievably strong!
Greed’s face changed once again. His eyes were almost bulging out. His heart was trembling, and he retreated again and again. The Seven-Colored Daoist’s strength made him feel the presence of death in that instant.
“Wang Lin has provoked such a terrifying person. Who is he?!” Greed shuddered and prepared to go back into the Beast Feeding Realm through the rift. As far as he was concerned, it was too dangerous outside, so it was safer to go back to the Beast Feeding Realm and tell the little ancestors stories.
But just at this moment, the Seven-Colored Daoist raised his right hand and pointed it toward the altar that Wang Lin was on.
“So this is the end of your escape. Then let me refine you here!” The moment the Seven-Colored Daoist pointed, the nine suns thundered forward toward Wang Lin. Waves of heat enveloped everything and incinerated all in its path.
Wang Lin sat cross-legged on the altar, staring at the nine suns rushing toward him. He didn’t know where the source of vitality was, but he saw the arm in the altar!
The ancient aura emanating from this arm allowed Wang Lin to recognize it right away. It was Ye Mo’s arm!
“Could this arm be the source of vitality?!” Wang Lin didn’t hesitate. He didn’t even have time to examine his surroundings before raising his right hand and pressing it directly onto the arm. If anyone else were here and didn’t have the ancient legacy, then they wouldn’t be able to fuse with this arm. But Wang Lin was different, he had the proper ancient legacy. The moment he placed his hand on the arm, the arm burst out with a dazzling light that engulfed his body completely.
At the same time, in the scorching waves, Greed cried out. Half of his body had already entered the rift, but he didn’t have enough time to get in completely!
“A thousand years, three thousand years, ten thousand years! I’ll tell stories for ten thousand years, just little ancestors, save me!”
At the moment when Greed roared in fear, he felt two small hands press on his back through the rift. At the same time, an unbelievably powerful cultivation surged into his body from those two little hands.
This power made Greed release endless golden light. The golden light spread, and Greed’s hands, without his control, rose up and touched each other in front of him, forming a circular pattern.
The moment this circular pattern appeared, a golden sun appeared within Greed’s hands! The golden sun was only the size of the circular pattern, but the power within it shook the entire star field, shook the Cloud Sea and the four star systems, and even shook the outer star field.
If this was all there was to it, then it would be alright. However, something even more terrifying was about to happen.
