Chapter 197: : | Sơn Hà Tế

We coincidentally surpassed 30,000 average subscriptions on May 20th, exactly forty-three days after its release.
The promised avatar frame (for reaching 30,000 subscriptions within two months) can finally be applied for. We completed the task ahead of schedule; now we just need to wait for Qidian’s scheduling.
Everyone is truly amazing.
Of course, I’m also pretty amazing, hands on hips. These forty-odd days of extra updates have been so intense that even old-timers thought it had been three or four months. It was incredibly exhausting.
The results are very gratifying.
In fact, when I first said there was no need to wait until the real-time tracking reached the target, because it could be compensated for later, it was precisely due to this confidence.
If you write a good story, it will ultimately receive positive feedback.
This book’s early stages are certainly not as straightforward and exciting as “Records of a Troubled World.” It’s completely normal for the early readership to not compare. However, it lays the groundwork for many future plotlines, and in terms of story richness, it will definitely surpass “Records of a Troubled World.”
When I was writing “Records of a Troubled World,” I regretted the singular plotline and the weakening story in the middle to late stages. Therefore, before starting this book, I deliberately aimed to improve in this area.
In the early stages of “Records of a Troubled World,” apart from the long-term setup for the blind character and Chi Chi’s slowly revealed background, there were almost no further plot developments. It was entirely about Old Zhao leveling up and fighting, so the pace was clearly fast and exhilarating. However, it was a pity that Hong Ling and Yang Yang never had their own stories fully fleshed out, making the later developments increasingly thin.
In contrast, “Mountain and River Sacrifices,” just a few tens of chapters into its opening, has already set up plotlines for Old Lu’s leg treatment, revenge, leveling up and alchemy, Ah Nuo’s true identity, Shen Tang’s royal connection, Qing Li’s master-disciple relationship, Mu Yu’s challenging development arc, the demon war, the conflict between righteous and demonic factions, and more. Consequently, its pace cannot be as swift and concise as “Records of a Troubled World.” However, once these laid-out plotlines begin to unfold, the later parts of the story will undoubtedly have more momentum.
Starting roughly from Chapter 83, with the kiss between Zhou Tang and Mu Yu’s ‘clown’ moment, performance skyrocketed. This was a direct result of the initial groundwork laid for Mu Yu’s storyline leading to this minor breakout.
Some readers find Yu unlikable, and that’s entirely intentional. Her early role was designed as a foil—a character who ruins a good hand due to her tsundere and yandere tendencies, existing simply to highlight how foolish she appears. Why should she be likable? If she were likable, how could we torment her…
“Absolutely not!”
Actually, as we ‘torment’ her, she gradually becomes likable, much like what happened with Kunkun, *chuckles*.
Some wonder how she can be labeled a female lead when she has so few direct plotlines… Well, someone who appears in only a few chapters but is a formidable presence in every chapter—if not the main character, then who is? Lu Xingzhou? Never heard of him.
Furthermore, regarding the daily pace, “Records of a Troubled World” always had an issue with being too fast-paced, rarely staying in one place for more than a few days, almost like rushing from one event to another. This also led to relatively fewer everyday interactions with the female leads. So, in this book, I’ve added a lot of daily life scenes, especially sweet interactions. As for whether readers will like them, I can’t say for sure; some might find them to be ‘filler,’ while others might particularly enjoy them.
In any case, I have many ideas and strive to improve upon the shortcomings of the previous book. As for future success, limited by my capabilities, it might succeed, or it might fail… I can only say that I will maintain my condition and thought process, and write well, hoping that this book’s story will become increasingly captivating.
Finally, thank you all for your continued support and trust. Thank you.
