Chapter 299: Endnote + Half-Day Leave Request | Sơn Hà Tế
Sơn Hà Tế - Updated on August 26, 2025
Volume three has concluded! Readers who were saving chapters can now enjoy them.
I rarely write these end-of-volume reflections, but since I’m planning to rest for half a day, I might as well write a few extra lines.
Mainly, it’s because everyone’s monthly votes were incredibly strong this time, far exceeding my expectations, and sales are also rising. I must thank everyone for their support.
This likely proves that this volume was quite popular.
This volume was actually pretty nonsensical; if you’re looking for strict logic, it probably wasn’t that rigorous, but that’s not important. The main focus was on joy. I wrote it with a smile, and everyone read it with a smile. Every chapter was written and read with a cheerful pout, and that’s probably its greatest significance.
For web novels, reading comfortably is more important than anything else.
I also wrote comfortably and smoothly, even updating more frequently than usual, which surprised me. Usually, by the time a novel reaches 800,000 to 900,000 words, I start to feel blocked, let alone continuous 10,000-word updates.
Hmm… perhaps the first volume seemed a bit too dark and grim? I imagine brothers who paused after the first volume probably wouldn’t have expected our subsequent direction to unfold this way. *Laughs.*
Actually, from the very beginning, the direction of this book was planned to go this way. The “Lao Yu” persecution subplot and the introduction of “Nuo Da Di” were all prepared for this. People get tired of constant fighting and killing, so they can enjoy some everyday life. It’s just that the initial setup was a bit extensive, so the tone might not have been clear at first. It only started to reveal itself after the “Xiao Yao Nü” appeared and reached its peak in the “Guo Shi” volume.
However, one cannot have everything. Since the focus is on daily life, romance, and humor, it naturally leads to a slower progression of the main storyline, and a small number of brothers have expressed dissatisfaction. This is indeed an issue. The reason for the rapid updates, besides writing smoothly, is also because this kind of daily plot inherently has a slow pace. If I updated even slower, when would the main storyline advance? So, I had to work faster.
Even with the hard work, the performance of “Shan He Ji” is still significantly less than “Luan Shi Shu” to date. “Luan Shi Shu” had such a fast and satisfying progression, right? But “Shan He Ji” currently has a very good reputation, *scratches head*… From another perspective, one could roughly infer that the number of people who enjoy daily life and romance might be fewer than those who enjoy showing off and fighting.
But that doesn’t matter; I’ll continue to write as I see fit. I also prefer the feeling of writing with a cheerful pout, and everyone in the group chat is happy and comfortable every day.
Additionally, although not much plot advanced in this volume, all the necessary events have been planted, and they will naturally erupt wonderfully later on. We’ll take our time.
By the way, I’ve been feeling quite listless these past two days. I probably got a headache from the air conditioning the day before yesterday and still haven’t fully recovered. It’s a good time for a volume to end, and starting a new volume requires some planning. I’ll rest for half a day today and organize the upcoming content.
For the next few days, I probably won’t update frequently at the start of the new volume. I’ll stick to two updates a day, and once it gets going, we’ll have a burst of updates.
