“A Transcendent-level Mindworm has emerged from the Mindworm race; the threat is too great,” said Palace Master Yuan Xiang. “The most crucial reason for the fall of Yulan City this time was that Transcendent-level being.”
Luo Feng nodded in agreement.
The probability of a city being breached from the outside is negligible. To breach it from within, a Transcendent-level being capable of infiltrating the city is required!
Palace Master Weiyang died and Palace Master Gaican fled, both due to that Transcendent-level Mindworm.
“Therefore, this team of cultivators will still come to Yulan City. They will use the karma between us and that Mindworm to locate it,” said Palace Master Yuan Xiang. “It must be eliminated as soon as possible.”
Luo Feng smiled slightly. “My clone is already hunting that Mindworm. I expect it will be done soon.”
Palace Master Yuan Xiang paused for a moment, then smiled.
Given Luo Feng’s overwhelming power, even when facing four opponents, hunting down a Transcendent-level Mindworm was indeed no difficult task.
“Even if you kill that Transcendent-level Mindworm, I suspect this team of cultivators will still visit Yulan City,” said Palace Master Yuan Xiang.
“Oh?” Luo Feng was somewhat surprised.
“Their interest in you is likely far greater than their interest in the Mindworm,” Palace Master Yuan Xiang said with a slight smile, as he was well aware of the thoughts of beings at their level.
Its heart trembled.
It sensed that ‘Luo Feng’ behind it was rapidly increasing his speed, quickly closing the distance between them.
It stopped fleeing. The difference in their escape speeds was too great; it couldn’t escape.
A black-robed, black-haired figure emerged from the ground and appeared before it.
“A Transcendent-level Mindworm,” Luo Feng observed it.
“Luo Feng, is this your strongest clone?” the Mindworm speculated.
Luo Feng nodded.
“Can you spare my life?” the Mindworm asked, looking at Luo Feng. “I was captured and brought to the Nine River Holy Realm by a terrifying entity among your cultivators. Everything I’ve done was under duress from that terrifying entity.”
Luo Feng gazed at it, his face expressionless, and extended a finger.
Luo Feng’s finger, however, caused the very fabric of space to split. His finger pierced through space, instantly appearing before the Mindworm. His index finger transformed into a sharp, furry claw, which instantly pierced the Mindworm’s body, striking its life core.
A faint sound.
As Luo Feng unleashed his move, his soul was also subjected to an invisible attack, distorting his perception. “Not a trace of hesitation,” the Mindworm thought, unwilling to accept its demise even at the moment of death. Its plea for mercy was meant to sway Luo Feng’s resolve, combined with its secret ‘Mind-Deluding’ technique, to alter Luo Feng’s perception.
Had Luo Feng truly wavered, under the influence of the secret technique, he might indeed have come to believe, “This Mindworm is innocent and pitiful; there’s no need to take its life.”
The innate secret technique ‘Mind-Deluding’ worked precisely this way, influencing thoughts and intentions to a certain extent.
But Luo Feng’s heart showed not a single ripple of hesitation, giving it no chance whatsoever.
Whoosh.
After killing the Mindworm, Luo Feng waved his hand and collected the corpse.
“Mercy?”
Luo Feng’s eyes were cold.
Luo Feng knew precisely when to show mercy. To be merciful to every ‘object’ in a life-and-death struggle was an incredibly foolish thing to do.
Cultivators and innate Primal Chaos Beings are two opposing factions, both seeking to utterly destroy the other.
Some terrifying entities among the innate Primal Chaos Beings even aim to devour source worlds! Therefore, the two factions are absolutely antagonistic.
They are absolutely antagonistic, two factions both aiming to completely wipe out the other. If one showed mercy in such a situation, they would not have cultivated to their current realm.
“Many cultivators have died at the hands of the Mindworm.” After collecting the Mindworm’s corpse, Luo Feng also discovered numerous spoils of war it carried, possibly from Palace Master Weiyang and some elders. “With the Mindworm dealt with, the other three will be much easier.” Luo Feng turned and looked in the other three directions.
Luo Feng had also sent clones to remotely follow the other three Transcendent-level beings.
The vast, endless sea of blood enveloped the expansive land and sky, including the black, winding mountain-like creature within it.
“Luo Feng, I pose no threat to you anymore, why won’t you give me a chance to live?” the black, winding mountain-like creature roared. It struggled, but under the suppression of the Blood Sea formation, its struggles grew weaker and weaker.
“You must pay the price for your actions!” The colossal claw within the sea of blood, after dozens of attacks, finally located the life core within the enormous body and shattered it.
This vast, black mountain-like entity was also the physically strongest among the four Transcendent-level beings.
“Die—”
Within a sea of blood, a colossal bolt of lightning erupted, its might overwhelming, even breaking through the blood sea and completely exploding.
“Dead?” Luo Feng wondered. His Bionic Annihilation Eye on his forehead opened, carefully observing all karmic traces. The karma between himself and the Lightning Tentacle creature had become incredibly faint, yet a trace of it still remained.
“A trace of karma still remains.”
“It didn’t completely die.”
“I have a faint feeling that its current location is extremely far from me, and it’s erratic, making it impossible to pinpoint its exact whereabouts,” Luo Feng said, a little surprised. The distance was so vast, as if it were at the edge of the sky!
Furthermore, there were layers of concealment, making the remaining trace of karmic thread blurry and impossible to determine.
“This Lightning Tentacle creature must have prepared a contingency before the war,” Luo Feng thought. “Now that its contingency has been activated, I wonder what race possesses such a life-saving ability.”
From the Divine Emperor Perfected level, it broke through to the Transcendent level.
Some lower-tier Primal Chaos Beings undergo changes in their life forms and gain innate abilities that even chieftain-level beings do not possess! This makes it difficult for cultivators to determine their original race.
“Never mind,” Luo Feng gave up.
There were already some Transcendent-level beings in the Nine River Holy Realm. Since he couldn’t track it, Luo Feng no longer insisted on pursuing it.
“Let future cultivators deal with it,” Luo Feng said, then continued his pursuit of the last being, the Bird of Annihilation.
The Bird of Annihilation could transform into an endless aura of destruction, but all its aura was suppressed within the Blood Sea Eye of the endless sea of blood!
The Blood Sea Eye was within Luo Feng’s secret treasure, the ‘Indestructible Heart’. The Bird of Annihilation was trapped within it and could not escape.
“A bit strange.”
Luo Feng looked inside the Indestructible Heart, at the vast aura of destruction suppressed within the Blood Sea Eye. “A Transcendent-level being has completely transformed into a mass of aura.”
“Unexpectedly, its physical body is the hardest to annihilate. After taking dozens of my claw strikes, it’s still so potent.” Luo Feng knew that if he expended hundreds of strikes, he could certainly completely annihilate this Bird of Annihilation, but he wasn’t in a hurry.
“Its talent in the path of ‘destruction’ is quite interesting.”
Luo Feng transformed back into human form and temporarily suppressed the Bird of Annihilation within the Blood Sea Eye of the ‘Indestructible Heart’.
“First, I’ll study its path of destruction. Once I’m done studying it, then I’ll destroy it,” Luo Feng thought. He had now reached the late-stage Divine Emperor realm in the Path of Creation and Destruction, and naturally, he also needed to begin attempting to reach the ‘Half-Primal Chaos level’ in the paths of Life and Destruction.
This Bird of Annihilation had value for his enlightenment.
Luo Feng began his return journey.
In the battle of Yulan City, he encountered a total of five Transcendent-level beings. One was killed within the city, and three outside. The Lightning Tentacle creature was likely still alive, albeit barely.
A large, ancient ship was flying through the skies of the Nine River Holy Realm, moving at an incredibly high speed.
Inside the ship.
Three figures sat there, chatting leisurely.
“Latest news,” a winged woman, whose wings were pure white without a single blemish, said with a smile. “The Transcendent-level Mindworm has been found dead.”
“It seems our mission is complete,” an elder said with a smile, flipping through a book in front of him. “Although we didn’t take action, since we accepted the mission and the Transcendent-level Mindworm did indeed die within three days, we can still receive half of the battle merit.”
Regardless of the reason, as long as the target died within three days, their team would at least be credited for their efforts.
If it had died after three days, and not by their hand, they would have received no credit at all.
“This Luo Feng is quite formidable. He broke through at a critical moment and managed to turn the tide even after the city fell,” a red-robed youth exclaimed. “I heard he can even gain the upper hand against four Transcendent-level beings by himself. His strength surpasses mine!”
“I can’t do that either. Fighting four Transcendent-level beings, I could at best maintain a stalemate,” the elder said.
“Very impressive,” the winged woman also praised. “To be so strong right after breaking through, and the key is he hasn’t even been to the Dark Holy Realm yet.”
“To be this strong without training in the Dark Holy Realm and without the aid of its special resources,” the elder marveled, “when he reaches the Dark Holy Realm, he might achieve the invincible level.”
Envy flickered in the red-robed youth’s eyes. “Every invincible-level being receives guidance from Senior Yuan and the others.”
“I heard that after invincible-level beings are guided away, most of them can transcend their current limitations. That’s existence at a whole different level,” the elder also said enviously.
They had all mastered two Half-Primal Chaos level paths and reached a very complete stage in their own cultivation, yet they could not be called ‘invincible’ and were not qualified for Senior Yuan and the others to guide them.
“Are you returning?” the winged woman asked with a slight smile. “I plan to go to Yulan City to meet this Luo Feng. If I wait until he becomes an invincible existence, I’m afraid I won’t have the chance.”
“Someone with such strength without even visiting the Dark Holy Realm is indeed worth meeting,” both the elder and the red-robed youth nodded.
They were naturally willing to befriend any being who had the potential to transcend their current limitations.
