Chapter 340: Proceeding in the Darkness Bottleneck | Swallowed Star 2: Origin Continent [Trans]

A droplet enveloped Luo Feng, traveling at hyper-speed through the Primordial Chaos Space.
“Every time I look at the Primordial Chaos Space, I’m struck by its grandeur,” Luo Feng mused, gazing outwards. He could vaguely see a massive Source World in the distance, but in the blink of an eye, the droplet carrying him left it far behind.
“We, the lifeforms within this cage, must have the protection of a world. We either live in a Source World or in a refined world created by our predecessors,” Luo Feng thought. “If we venture outside a world, we wouldn’t survive for long.”
The Primordial Chaos Space is boundless and contains endless, chaotic Primordial Chaos energy. This energy is not the refined, gentle power found within worlds; it constantly erodes life. Only by breaking free from the cage can one survive long-term in the Primordial Chaos Space. Even what I’ve observed of the Primordial Chaos Space is less than one ten-thousandth of its true vastness.
Back on his home Origin Continent, Luo Feng had meticulously observed the Primordial Chaos Space using his Eye of Life and Death. Through that eye, the Primordial Chaos Space appeared vibrant and diverse, with countless magnificent layers of space. Energy passing through these layers generated even more types of energy and allowed various creatures to proliferate. Without the Eye of Life and Death, Luo Feng’s current observations would only reveal a murky, dark expanse, with occasional glimpses of colossal entities. “Hmm,” Luo Feng noticed a swirling mist vortex, roughly one-tenth the size of the Origin Continent. A misty head emerged from the vortex, looking in Luo Feng’s direction. “Judging by its size, it should be a high-level Primordial Chaos lifeform,” Luo Feng speculated.
During teleportation, it was occasionally possible to encounter high-level Primordial Chaos lifeforms. Encountering a World-level Primordial Chaos lifeform, however, was extremely rare. Of course, for those like Luo Feng who hadn’t broken free from the cage, assessing strength was simple: it was all about size!
According to legend, entities slightly smaller than an entire Source World were at the Primordial Chaos Ancestor level, representing the most terrifying tier of existence.
Entities a bit larger than the Origin Continent were estimated to be World-level Primordial Chaos lifeforms. Those comparable to a small part of the Origin Continent were generally high-level Primordial Chaos lifeforms. Of course, such judgments could be mistaken, as some powerful beings might intentionally shrink their size. However, Luo Feng and others who hadn’t broken free had limited means of discerning true strength.
“We’ve arrived at the Dark Saint Realm!” The droplet enveloping Luo Feng flew directly towards a unique world. This world was entirely black, faintly tinged with dark red, and significantly smaller than a Source World. *Whoosh!* The droplet instantly entered the Dark Saint Realm.
Atop a towering sacred mountain in the Dark Saint Realm, Luo Feng emerged from a dark lake and landed beside it.
Luo Feng felt the suppressive force of the Dark Saint Realm. “The suppressive force is comparable to the Nine Rivers Saint Realm. My Path of Life and Death, at the God-Emperor late stage, remains stable here and doesn’t require modification. My Path of Life and Death is gradually becoming compatible with all our worlds,” Luo Feng pondered.
“Friend, a flying vessel will arrive soon to take us to the five cities of the Dark Saint Realm,” a cultivator nearby said with a smile. The Dark Saint Realm was more dangerous, so few cultivators dared to travel alone, usually opting for official flying vessels. Luo Feng looked over and saw that more than fifty cultivators had already gathered there, each with a different aura, but all were at least God-Emperor late stage Dao-enlightened cultivators. “Thank you,” Luo Feng replied with a smile.
“Thanks,” Luo Feng said, then immediately tore through space and flew away. *Whoosh!* His departing figure blurred, then reached the horizon, and finally vanished completely. This scene astonished the fifty-plus cultivators. To be able to perform short-distance spatial shifts in the Dark Saint Realm—surely only Peak-level existences could do that, and even then, only a select few! Some of these cultivators were visiting the Dark Saint Realm for the first time, while others had been there many times, but all were well aware of the difficulty of short-distance spatial travel within the realm. To achieve this was, without a doubt, a feat only possible for the most terrifying beings in the Dark Saint Realm.
“Black clothes, black hair… I’ve collected information on all the Peak-level entities in the Dark Saint Realm with any reputation, but this person isn’t in my records,” an elder said, puzzled. “I don’t know him either. I haven’t heard of a Peak-level being like him in any of the five cities of the Dark Saint Realm,” other cultivators added, equally perplexed.
In the Dark Saint Realm, cultivators had only five gathering cities. Peak-level entities in each of these cities were generally very well-known, making it relatively easy to gather basic information about them.
Luo Feng had long since obtained detailed information about the Dark Saint Realm from Hall Master Yuan Xiang and the cultivator team. After leaving the Teleportation Sacred Mountain, he headed directly to Chengfeng City, the gathering city where the cultivator team was located. Chengfeng City was the closest of the Dark Saint Realm’s five cities to the Teleportation Sacred Mountain, which was why Hall Master Yuan Xiang had initially sought their assistance.
Luo Feng descended. Although he had chosen Chengfeng City as his first destination, he was not in a hurry to travel further. He was filled with curiosity about the entire Dark Saint Realm. “The quantity and quality of low-level Primordial Chaos lifeforms in the Dark Saint Realm far exceed those in the Nine Rivers Saint Realm,” Luo Feng thought with some anticipation. “I’ve even heard that Primordial Chaos Prisoners occasionally appear.”
Primordial Chaos Prisoners are high-level Primordial Chaos lifeforms whose powers have been sealed. Apart from those imprisoned in large Primordial Chaos Temples, a very small number can also be found in the wild. Their powers are completely suppressed, but the discovery of each Primordial Chaos Prisoner attracts cultivators who form teams to hunt them down. In the Dark Saint Realm, even Peak-level entities find it quite dangerous to act alone.
“However, for me, the threat is rather ordinary,” Luo Feng considered.
Luo Feng walked across the land. His simulated Eye of Life and Death, located on his brow, observed his surroundings. Each time he consumed ‘Hundred Tribulation Marrow of Mind,’ his thought processes accelerated three thousand-fold, entering a continuous state of inspiration that lasted for more than half a cosmic era. This cultivation efficiency far surpassed his normal cultivation over a thousand cosmic eras.
Therefore, during his previous secluded cultivation, although Luo Feng’s Path of Life and Path of Destruction encountered minor obstacles, both still reached the Half-True Primordial Chaos level. However, the advancement of his Path of Life and Death became significantly more difficult. Luo Feng had progressed from the ‘God-Emperor late stage Path of Life and Death,’ gradually drawing nourishment from Life and Destruction, which was smooth at first. But it grew progressively harder until he completely hit a bottleneck, getting stuck there, unable to advance. It was then that Luo Feng turned his attention to perfecting the ‘Immortal Blood Sea Orb Body,’ ‘simulated Eye of Life and Death,’ and other secret techniques. “I’m still quite a distance from the Half-True Primordial Chaos level in the Path of Life and Death, and I’m stuck at a bottleneck,” Luo Feng realized, experiencing the same difficulties other cultivators faced—getting stuck at a point, unable to comprehend further, and thus unable to make any progress.
Of course, even so, compared to the Battle of Yulan City, Luo Feng’s accumulation in the Path of Life and Death was much deeper, further aided by the Half-Primordial Chaos levels of his Paths of Life and Destruction. His realm had naturally improved significantly, and the power of his various secret techniques had greatly increased.
“Hmm, I’ve found a team of Primordial Chaos lifeforms.” Luo Feng’s simulated Eye of Life and Death could see much further than before. He now spotted a team in the distance: a group of Primordial Chaos Barren Hoof creatures. In the Nine Rivers Saint Realm, Primordial Chaos Barren Hoof creatures usually acted alone; it was rare to see three to five of them together. But here, there were a full eighty-two Primordial Chaos Barren Hoof creatures moving in unison. “Among them, seven are at the God-Emperor Consummation level, and seventy-five are at the God-Emperor late stage level,” Luo Feng observed. “If someone like Hall Master Weiyang encountered a team like this, they’d probably be annihilated in an instant.”
Luo Feng, intrigued, walked over. With a single step, he passed through a spatial fissure and instantly appeared nearby.
“Hmm…” All eighty-two Primordial Chaos Barren Hoof creatures noticed Luo Feng, a lone cultivator, almost simultaneously. “Kill him!” Without hesitation, they lunged. In the Dark Saint Realm, low-level Primordial Chaos lifeforms and cultivators had battled each other for endless ages, making killing an instinct.
*Boom! Rumble!* As the Primordial Chaos Barren Hoof creatures moved, countless streams of green lightning coalesced in the void. The lightning flowed like water, as if the heavens themselves were pouring down, and violently struck towards Luo Feng.
Luo Feng stood his ground, allowing the lightning to strike him. Yet, this watery lightning couldn’t touch a single strand of his hair, being blocked and isolated by an invisible force.
The Primordial Chaos Barren Hoof creatures were already incredibly fast, and they charged at Luo Feng together. However, when they realized that the lightning they unleashed couldn’t even harm a single hair on Luo Feng’s head, the sight sent a tremor through them. All the Primordial Chaos Barren Hoof creatures collectively slowed down, preparing to flee without hesitation.
“Since we’ve met, don’t leave,” Luo Feng said. He stretched out a hand, which transformed into a large, furry claw. Instantly, this claw pierced through the void, encompassing a vast area ahead. The space was segmented, and the team of Primordial Chaos Barren Hoof creatures was trapped within an isolated dimension. *Whoosh.* Luo Feng withdrew his hand, and within his furry palm were the eighty-two captured Primordial Chaos Barren Hoof creatures.
In Luo Feng’s palm, the team of Primordial Chaos Barren Hoof creatures were like toys, utterly powerless to resist. Their bodies remained intact, but their life cores silently shattered, and they all died.
“A chance encounter is destiny!” Luo Feng immediately collected all the corpses into his storage treasure.
Indeed, such teams of low-level Primordial Chaos lifeforms posed no threat to Luo Feng. By his own estimation, during the Battle of Yulan City, he alone could suppress four Transcendent-level beings! Now, he should be able to contend with ten Transcendent-level beings on his own! One person was enough to rival a team of Peak-level entities.
“However, my current strength is far from invincible,” Luo Feng knew this clearly. Invincible was a major tier above Peak level. An invincible being was worth at least thirty Peak-level entities; that was the minimum threshold for being invincible!
In fact, if one’s spiritual will broke free from the cage, a Peak-level entity would be utterly powerless against such an existence, crushed by their will.
Luo Feng walked to a lake, then suddenly sat down cross-legged, contemplating his cultivation dilemmas.
