Chapter 6: Mysterious New Instructor (II) | Throne Of Seal [Trans]

Throne Of Seal [Trans] - Updated on March 12, 2025

“Poof—, crack…, bang—”

Three distinct sounds occurred almost simultaneously, yet their differences were remarkably clear. The first sound was naturally the impact of the wooden sword against the wooden stake, while the second was the sound of the wooden sword breaking. Indeed, the wooden sword couldn’t withstand Long Haochen’s chop and snapped in the middle. Fortunately, it didn’t break completely, preventing it from flying off and injuring him.

The last sound was the clatter of the stone bead falling back down. Still in the chopping stance, Long Haochen clearly saw that the highest point it had reached before was at the twenty-five mark.

Was this real? It was, and the broken wooden sword proved it. Balza had once told them that the maximum force the wooden swords could withstand was twenty units of spiritual power.

Although Long Haochen didn’t yet have a strong understanding of what it meant to become a knight, he was still shocked and pleasantly surprised to advance from a first-level squire knight to a second-level squire knight overnight.

“Hmm?” A soft hum startled Long Haochen, and he instinctively turned around, only to be surprised to find a middle-aged man standing behind him.

Though initially startled, Long Haochen wasn’t afraid. He curiously observed the middle-aged man before him.

The middle-aged man was tall and slender with black hair and dark eyes, possessing a dignified appearance and particularly bright eyes. He couldn’t be described as handsome; imposing was a more fitting word. Dressed in simple cloth clothing with a stern face, Long Haochen felt an intangible pressure emanating from him. It was like an imposing mountain range with a peak that was out of sight.

After a brief moment of surprise, the middle-aged man quickly returned to his normal demeanor, his brow furrowed slightly as he looked at Long Haochen.

“Who are you?” Long Haochen asked curiously.

The middle-aged man said calmly, “You passed the squire knight exam yesterday. From today onward, I am your new instructor. You can call me Teacher Xingyu.”

Long Haochen hesitated. “But I’ve never seen you before.”

Xingyu said calmly, “Your name is Long Haochen, and you are nine years old. Your mother’s name is Bai Yue. Am I correct?”

Long Haochen nodded.

Xingyu’s gaze suddenly became more focused. “Let’s wait until Balza arrives.” As he spoke, he didn’t say anything more, but looked in a direction and moved his lips slightly.

In just a moment, hurried footsteps sounded, and Long Haochen saw Balza running over quickly, his face filled with strong shock and respect.

“Good instructor,” Long Haochen said, offering him a knightly salute as soon as he saw Balza.

Oddly, Balza didn’t return the greeting as he usually did. Instead, he quickly walked up to Xingyu and said respectfully, “Sir.”

Xingyu nodded. “Tell him I am his new instructor.”

“Yes, sir.” Balza quickly said to Long Haochen, “Lord Xingyu is from the Haoyue City Knight Branch. Starting today, he will be your knight instructor for the next three years. You must listen to Lord Xingyu’s instructions in everything. Lord Xingyu is a true knight.”

“Oh,” Long Haochen replied obediently. In truth, he didn’t know the difference between a quasi-knight and a true knight. But since this was his new instructor, he would simply train with him.

“Teacher Xingyu,” he thought, politely greeting Xingyu. Compared to his peers, his maturity and composure were indeed more pronounced.

“Alright, let’s go.” As Xingyu spoke, he naturally took Long Haochen’s hand and began to walk away. However, before stepping forward, his gaze glanced subtly at Long Haochen’s beautiful face, and a hint of melancholy flashed in his eyes.

Xingyu’s hand was large, with long fingers and a broad palm, almost completely enveloping Long Haochen’s hand. Warmth and security were Long Haochen’s only feelings.

“Teacher Xingyu, aren’t we training here?” Long Haochen couldn’t help but ask as they exited the Odin Sub-Hall.

Xingyu said, “This place is not suitable.”

Sensing the coldness in Xingyu’s tone, Long Haochen wisely didn’t ask any further questions.

Balza watched their departing figures, muttering to himself in astonishment, “I wonder what this lord’s identity is. Was that voice transmission just now? At least an Earth Knight would have that ability. No, perhaps a Radiant Knight? Heavens!”

Xingyu led Long Haochen out of Odin Town. As soon as they left the town, Long Haochen suddenly felt a warm, thick surge of vast energy coming from Xingyu’s hand. The next moment, a bizarre scene, like soaring through the clouds, appeared.

Each time Xingyu’s toes lightly touched the ground, they seemed to glide forward at least ten zhang (approximately 33 meters). In just a few breaths, Odin Town was far behind them.

This kind of speed was like lightning for Long Haochen. All he could do was hold tightly to Xingyu’s hand, afraid he would fall.

Soon, they passed through the forest where Long Haochen had gathered wild vegetables yesterday, and climbed a mountain behind the forest. Long Haochen was familiar with this area, after all, he had grown up here. This mountain was called Odin Mountain by the people of Odin Town. But because wild beasts and even magical beasts often appeared in the mountains and the forest they had passed through, few people came here. He had ventured to the foot of Odin Mountain once, half a year ago, out of curiosity. There he saw an unknown wild beast, and he was so scared that he quickly ran away. Since then, Long Haochen had never ventured deep into the forest, let alone Odin Mountain.

“Teacher, there are wild beasts here, and possibly even magical beasts,” Long Haochen kindly reminded him.

Xingyu seemed not to have heard him, instead increasing his speed, directly taking him up Odin Mountain. Even while climbing, his speed didn’t slow down. The surrounding scenery rapidly passed on either side, and the strong wind scattered Long Haochen’s hair.

Odin Mountain wasn’t very high, only about two hundred zhang (approximately 666 meters), and they reached the summit in just a short while.

Three small wooden houses appeared in Xingyu’s view. There was no courtyard, only three solitary wooden houses. Judging by the newness of the wood, they had clearly been built recently.

Xingyu stopped in front of the wooden houses and led Long Haochen into the largest one in the center.

As they pushed open the door, a faint smell of wood wafted from the wooden house. It wasn’t unpleasant, but rather had a subtle fragrance. The central wooden house was the largest, but the room had only the simplest furnishings: a wooden bed without even bedding, a wooden table, and two wooden chairs. It was so simple, even more so than Long Haochen’s home.

“Sit down,” Xingyu said, pointing to a chair, and pulling one out himself.

Long Haochen obediently sat down. Although he was young and inexperienced, he could sense that his teacher was very powerful. Amidst the nervousness, he also felt a bit of excitement.

“First, tell me what happened to you yesterday? Why did your spiritual power double?” Xingyu asked calmly. His face was expressionless, but his words put some intangible pressure on Long Haochen.

“Yesterday it was like this…” Long Haochen didn’t feel like he had anything to hide, so he recounted everything that had happened yesterday.

As he listened, Xingyu only frowned slightly once throughout the entire process, and didn’t show any other reaction.

The new book is updated with one chapter in the morning and one in the evening, but I am attending the 8th Representative Conference of the Chinese Writers Association these days. I don’t know when I will be back from the meeting in the evening, so the updates in the evening may be slightly unstable, but they will definitely be updated, please forgive me. Today is the opening ceremony of the conference, and the General Secretary and Premier will deliver important speeches. It is quite exciting to meet them.
