Chapter 8: The Mysterious New Instructor (4) | Throne Of Seal [Trans]

“The demons have already killed tens of thousands of our compatriots, staining the earth with their blood. For three thousand years, our six great temples have never dared to slacken in the slightest. For the propagation and inheritance of humankind, to one day reclaim all that we have lost, we will spare no effort to drive away those cruel and vicious demons, even until the last drop of our lives is burned out.”

“Long Haochen, you must remember that demons are our mortal enemies, with whom we have a blood feud.”

Xingyu’s voice was full of infectiousness, and even Long Haochen, who was only nine years old, felt somewhat stirred by his words.

“Demons are our mortal enemies, with whom we have a blood feud,” Long Haochen repeated Xingyu’s words with a firm tone.

Xingyu nodded, “All our efforts are aimed at driving them out of our homeland, reclaiming all that we have lost, and protecting our loved ones. Ask yourself, if one day we fail to stop the demons’ invasion, what will happen when they reach Odin Town? What disasters will your friends and your mother face?”

Long Haochen shuddered, and the determination in his eyes grew even stronger.

Seeing his expression, Xingyu revealed a hint of satisfaction in his eyes. He could naturally see that this little fellow had already taken what he had said to heart.

“That’s all for the history lesson for today. Starting tomorrow, I’ll tell you about the origins of the six great temples. Next, I’ll teach you our human language and some knowledge related to demons.”

For the entire morning, Long Haochen was immersed in the various stories that Xingyu told. Compared to the previous Instructor Balza, this new teacher brought him too many different things. Various quotations and straightforward explanations, seemingly inexhaustible knowledge. In just one morning, Long Haochen already felt that his brain was filled with a wealth of knowledge. This made Long Haochen instantly like his teacher, Xingyu.

“Tomorrow morning, I will test you on everything I taught you today. Alright, let’s eat. You can rest for half an hour after the meal.”

As he spoke, Xingyu, as if performing magic, placed various foods on the wooden table in a matter of seconds.

A slightly scalding energy surged from Xingyu’s hand, and under Long Haochen’s astonished gaze, the food instantly emitted steaming heat and a rich aroma.

A large bowl of crystal clear, plump white rice, two meat and two vegetable dishes in generous portions, and a pot of rich chicken soup that instantly made Long Haochen swallow his saliva. Because of the poverty at home, he had never eaten such good food since he was a child. Just looking at it made Long Haochen’s eyes go wide.

Xingyu took out two sets of bowls and chopsticks. “Eat. You can rest for a while after you finish.”

Long Haochen suddenly stood up quickly and walked to Xingyu, kneeling down with a thud.

“What are you doing? Don’t you know that a man’s knees are worth more than gold, and he shouldn’t kneel easily?” Xingyu rebuked angrily.

Long Haochen lowered his head and mumbled, “Teacher, I, I…”

“What ‘I, I’? You’re going to kneel for a little favor? Am I teaching a kowtowing bug?” Xingyu’s voice became even more severe.

Long Haochen said in a low voice, “Teacher, I wanted to ask, can I eat a little less each day and bring some home to my mother every week? My mother has never eaten such delicious food either.”

Xingyu was stunned. The anger vanished in an instant, and he seemed somewhat dazed, even giving off a stiff feeling. Because Long Haochen was looking down, he didn’t see that his mysterious new teacher’s lips were trembling slightly at this moment. There was also something shimmering in his eyes.

Slowly standing up, Xingyu pushed the door open and walked out, but his voice came back, “Get up and eat. I promise you, as long as you follow me and work hard in cultivation, and can meet my requirements, I will have someone send a portion of food to your mother every day in the future.”

“Thank you, teacher.” Long Haochen was overjoyed. He turned around while kneeling and kowtowed several times in the direction of the door before standing up and starting to devour the tempting food.

Xingyu stood outside the door, looking up at the sky, seemingly trying hard to suppress something, and said in a voice that only he could hear, “Humility, honesty, compassion, valor, justice, sacrifice, honor, perseverance, benevolence, righteousness, what else does he lack? Is he truly a born knight?”

When he returned to the wooden house, Little Haochen had already finished his lunch, but he had left half of each dish untouched and had also filled a bowl of rice for Xingyu. Seeing him return, he quickly stood up and looked at him respectfully.

“The room next door is yours. Go rest for a while. I’ll call you when it’s time.”

“Yes.” Long Haochen only felt that Teacher Xingyu was a gift from heaven to him, and he went to rest happily.

Half an hour later, Xingyu called out Long Haochen.

“The entire afternoon and evening will be your cultivation time. Here, take this.” Xingyu handed a pair of green bamboo swords to Long Haochen.

This pair of bamboo swords was much lighter than the wooden sword Long Haochen had been using. One in each hand, they were light as nothing but he could feel the toughness in them.

Xingyu grabbed his arm and soared into the air again, flying towards the bottom of the mountain. In just a moment, he brought Long Haochen to the middle of the mountainside.

Pointing to a large rock in front of him, Xingyu said, “This is a natural Owl Ant nest. There are thousands upon thousands of Owl Ants inside. Although these insects are not yet considered magical beasts, they have a strong attack power, especially against intruders. Remember, use your bamboo swords to protect yourself.”

With just a simple explanation, before Long Haochen could understand what was happening, Xingyu had already kicked open the large rock in front of him, and amidst Long Haochen’s exclamation, sent him into the dark cave under the rock.

A gentle force supported Long Haochen’s body as he fell downwards. He only touched solid ground after falling about five meters.

The large rock above had returned to its place. It was pitch black all around. He had vaguely seen an area of about ten square meters before the rock was closed.

At that moment, with a buzzing sound, Long Haochen felt that there seemed to be countless densely packed things around him, flying towards him from all directions.

Only then did he understand what Teacher Xingyu meant. He subconsciously waved the pair of bamboo swords in his hands.

However, what he had learned in the Odin Sub-Temple were only the most basic techniques of chopping, slashing, and thrusting. Facing the crazy Owl Ants, whose number he didn’t know, he was bitten in several places almost instantly.

Intense pain spread from all over his body, causing Little Haochen to cry out in pain. The bamboo swords in his hands also became scattered.

“This is one of your cultivation methods, and it is also your initial assessment. If you can’t even withstand this, you can go down the mountain tomorrow.”

Xingyu’s voice entered Long Haochen’s ears, slightly stabilizing his panicked emotions, but the pain coming from his body became even more intense. The clothes on his body couldn’t stop the Owl Ants’ bites at all. Even the scattered waving of the bamboo swords could clearly feel that they were hitting a large number of objects.

“I can withstand it.” Long Haochen shouted loudly, thinking of his mother, thinking of what Xingyu had said to him today, and courage broke through the shackles of fear, desperately waving the bamboo swords in his hands, driving away the Owl Ants that were constantly attacking him.

“Although you can’t see now, what you have lost is only sight. But you still have hearing, smell, touch, feeling, and even taste. Use all your abilities to help yourself and feel everything around you…”

PS: I found that we have the opportunity to hit first place in both member clicks and recommendations. How about this, no matter which one is first, I will add another update, if both are first, then add three more updates…, gazing into the distance…, this week is effective!
